Lost Lake, Mountain lake in Hood River County, United States.

This body of water covers 240 acres (97 hectares) at the base of Mount Hood and sits at an elevation of 3,270 feet (996 meters). Dense coniferous forests of Douglas fir and hemlock surround the shoreline, while several small coves and an island punctuate the perimeter.

Early settlers in Hood River County discovered the water body in the 1880s but found it difficult to relocate due to dense vegetation, which led to its naming. A recreation area was developed in the 1940s, and the United States Forest Service assumed management of facilities in subsequent decades.

This body of water provides habitat for various fish species and attracts anglers year-round who seek rainbow trout while enjoying the natural setting of Mount Hood. Local communities use the surrounding area for educational programs about ecology and sustainable recreation.

The area offers 148 campsites plus cabins and yurts for overnight stays, accessible from May through October. A small store provides basic supplies for visitors, and boat rentals are available during the season. Access is via Forest Road 13 from Oregon Route 35.

Under specific weather conditions in early fall, a perfect reflection of Mount Hood forms on the water surface, drawing photographers from throughout the Pacific Northwest region. This phenomenon occurs most frequently during early morning hours when wind and wave action are minimal.
