The Stein Valley Nlaka'pamux Heritage Park extends across 413 square miles of untouched watershed within the southern Coast Mountains of British Columbia.
The park gained protected status in 1995 after decades of protests against logging plans, leading to a joint management agreement between BC Parks and Lytton First Nation.
The park contains numerous pictograph sites, including the Asking Rock where indigenous people traditionally requested spiritual permission before entering the valley.
The wilderness area features 150 kilometers of maintained hiking trails, cable crossings, suspension bridges, and multiple camping grounds for multi-day expeditions.
The Stein River watershed transitions from dry interior forests to coastal mountain environments, supporting over 50 mammal species across different elevation zones.
