Yosemite National Park

Yosemite extends across 1,200 square miles of granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves, lakes, mountains, and glaciers.

The National Park Service designated Yosemite as a protected wilderness in 1890, following John Muir's efforts to preserve its natural landscapes.

Native American Ahwahneechee people inhabited the Yosemite Valley for 4,000 years before the first European settlers arrived in the region.

Park entrance fees cost $35 per vehicle for a seven-day pass, with reservations required during peak summer weekends and holidays.

The park's granite formation Half Dome rises 4,737 feet from the valley floor, making it a destination for technical rock climbers.
