Paradise Palms, Mid-century residential district in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Paradise Palms is a residential neighborhood in Las Vegas, Nevada, located between the University District and downtown, made up of single-family homes built in the mid-century modern style. The houses feature flat or low-pitched roofs, large windows, and open floor plans designed to suit the desert setting.
The neighborhood was developed starting in 1960 as one of the first planned residential communities in the city, built to meet the rapid growth of postwar Las Vegas. In 2021, Clark County granted it the status of a historic protection district.
Paradise Palms was a popular address for entertainers and performers who worked on the Las Vegas Strip and chose to live here during the 1960s. Walking through the streets today, you can still see homes that were built to reflect the tastes and lifestyle of that era.
The neighborhood is flat and easy to walk through, though starting early in the morning is a good idea during the hot months. The streets are wide and low in traffic, making it comfortable to stop and look at the houses without feeling rushed.
In 2024, signs were installed at 75 locations across the neighborhood to mark its boundaries as a historic protection district, the result of a decade-long campaign by local residents. These markers are visible from the street and help visitors understand the exact limits of the protected area.
