Ottawa West—Nepean, Federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada
Ottawa West-Nepean is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, situated west of downtown Ottawa and covering neighborhoods such as Shirleys Bay, Crystal Beach, Britannia, Bayshore, Rocky Point, and Lincoln Heights. The district stretches from the Ottawa River shoreline down through residential areas that were once part of the former city of Nepean.
The district was created in 1996 by merging Ottawa West, Nepean, and portions of the Lanark-Carleton riding. This reflected the growing connections between communities that had developed on both sides of what was once a municipal boundary.
English is the most common everyday language in the district, but French and Arabic are also spoken in many households across the area. This mix is noticeable in the shops, schools, and community spaces scattered throughout the neighborhoods.
The district is well served by public transit, and most neighborhoods have accessible paths for walking and cycling. Residents who want to contact their representative can visit the local constituency office or reach out through the official Parliament of Canada channels.
The 2022 redistribution brought the entire Carlington neighborhood into this riding, and parts of McKellar Park were moved over from Ottawa Centre at the same time. Some streets that had belonged to a neighboring riding for years found themselves in a different electoral district overnight.
