Duportail Bridge

The Duportail Bridge is a road bridge in Richland that crosses the Yakima River and Columbia Canal. It connects the Queensgate area with downtown through Duportail Street while providing four traffic lanes plus separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists.

Construction began in February 2018 by Apollo Construction and finished in December 2020. The project created an important new crossing for transportation in the region.

The bridge development involved extensive community participation through public meetings, reflecting the local commitment to infrastructure improvement and urban planning.

The bridge is easy to access and accommodates different types of travelers. The infrastructure was designed to reduce congestion and distribute traffic more evenly across this area.

The state government contributed over 30 million dollars to the project, which includes a transportation benefit district levy on annual car registrations until 2039.
