The Duportail Bridge spans 0.67 miles across the Yakima River and Columbia Canal, connecting the Queensgate area with downtown Richland through Duportail Street.
Construction of the Duportail Bridge started in February 2018 by Apollo Construction and reached completion in December 2020, marking a new transportation era for Richland.
The bridge development involved extensive community participation through public meetings, reflecting the local commitment to infrastructure improvement and urban planning.
With four traffic lanes, pedestrian paths, and bike lanes, the bridge reduces congestion on I-182 while providing multiple transportation options for residents.
The state government contributed over 30 million dollars to the project, which includes a transportation benefit district levy on annual car registrations until 2039.
