Southern Governorate

The Southern Governorate is an administrative region of Bahrain that encompasses several urban areas, coastal stretches, and island groups. It covers significant land and marine areas of the island nation.

The region originated from its initial structure established in 1919 and became one of Bahrain's four governorates following major administrative reforms in 2002. This reorganization created the country's present-day administrative divisions.
