Khizi District, Administrative district in northeastern Azerbaijan

The territory spans 1,850 square kilometers at an elevation of 859 meters, featuring mountains, rivers, forests, and semi-desert regions near the Caspian coast.

The district gained its administrative status on August 30, 1930, during the Soviet period and maintained its position after Azerbaijan's independence in 1991.

The district population includes Azerbaijani and Tat communities, contributing to the preservation of traditional pastoral practices and regional customs.

The region contains multiple rivers including Atachay, Jangichay, Kanda, Tugchay, and Dizavarchay, supporting agricultural activities and water resources for local communities.

The district houses the Candy Cane Mountains west of Gilazi, where colorful rock formations create distinct patterns in the semi-desert landscape.
