Mymensingh Polytechnic Institute, Technical education institute in Maskanda, Mymensingh, Bangladesh
Mymensingh Polytechnic Institute is a technical education facility in the Maskanda area of Mymensingh, Bangladesh, with seven engineering departments. The campus includes labs for electricity, electronics, and computing, along with workshops and testing rooms used for hands-on training.
The institute was founded in 1963 with three departments covering civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Over the following decades, new departments were added as the facility gradually grew to its current form.
The institute works closely with nearby industries, giving students the chance to apply what they learn in real work settings. In the workshops on campus, visitors can see students handling tools and machinery as part of their daily training.
The campus is made up of several buildings spread across the grounds, so getting from one department to another means walking a fair distance. Allowing enough time to move around the site makes a visit much more comfortable.
The two largest departments, civil and electrical engineering, together take in around 600 new students each year, which is unusually large for a single polytechnic in the region. This means the institute trains a high number of technicians compared to similar schools in Bangladesh.
