Elliott Bridge, Steel and concrete bridge in Sirajganj, Bangladesh.

Elliott Bridge is a steel and concrete crossing over the Boral River in Sirajganj, connecting two areas of the city. The structure uses an arch design that allows ships to pass underneath.

The structure was built in 1892 by British engineer Stuart Hartland and named after Charles Alfred Elliott, the Lieutenant Governor of Bengal at that time. It represents infrastructure development that took place during British rule in the region.

Locals call this crossing Boropool, and it represents a period when foreign engineers shaped the region's infrastructure. The bridge remains an important link connecting different parts of the city in daily use.

The structure is open daily for pedestrians and light vehicles, though authorities restrict heavier traffic flow. Visitors can walk across to observe the arch construction details from above.

What sets this crossing apart is its arch design without support pillars in the middle, giving river vessels plenty of clearance. This approach was a technically demanding solution for the time.
