Woodbridge, Suburban district in Vaughan, Canada
Woodbridge is a district within the city of Vaughan in Ontario that spreads along the Humber River on rolling terrain between two major highways. Residential streets alternate with commercial areas and give way to parks and public facilities.
The first post office opened here in 1855 and made the earlier settlement of Burwick the official town center. Architect Rowland Burr had established the original settlement already in 1837.
The district maintains strong Italian-Canadian influences through local restaurants, markets, and community events including the annual Woodbridge Fair and seasonal celebrations.
The area sits close to downtown Toronto and is easily reached by several major roads and public transit. Shopping centers and recreational facilities are scattered across the area.
The Kortright Centre for Conservation covers more than 300 hectares with environmental education programs and trails through forest areas. Visitors can join workshops or explore the natural habitats along the river.
