Park Hotel

Park Hotel is a 24-story Art Deco building in Huangpu with black granite from Shandong Province adorning its lower levels. Dark brown brick covers the upper floors, creating a striking visual appearance.

Architect László Hudec designed the building, which opened in December 1934 and remained Asia's tallest until 1963. Its completion marked a turning point in Shanghai's development as a modern metropolis.

The hotel takes its name from a nearby park and reflects the Western architectural style that shaped Shanghai during the 1930s. Visitors can still see the elegant Art Deco details that mark it as a symbol of that cosmopolitan era.

The hotel sits near Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and People's Square, offering good transport connections. The building is easy to reach and located in a busy commercial district with many restaurants and shops nearby.

A terrace on the 13th floor was converted into a banquet hall with a retractable roof in 1935, allowing for different event configurations. This flexible design was innovative for hoteliers at that time.
