Anshun, Prefecture-level city in Guizhou Province, China
Anshun is a prefecture-level city in southwestern Guizhou that spreads across mountainous terrain marked by karst formations, underground streams, and natural caves. The landscape centers around Huangguoshu Waterfall, a major geographic feature that shapes the surrounding region.
This region belonged to the Yelang kingdom during the Warring States period until the Han dynasty incorporated it into their empire in 111 BCE. That conquest marked the transition from independent rule to inclusion within Chinese administration.
The Tunpo people maintain their ancestral practices in Tianlong Tunbao, where craftspeople create traditional batik textiles using wax-resist dyeing methods passed down through generations. These handmade pieces reflect how local identity remains rooted in ancient craft traditions.
The city connects to major urban centers through the Guiyang-Kunming railway line and Huangguoshu Airport. Travelers can choose either transportation option depending on their arrival preferences and destination needs.
The landscape here contains multiple underground streams that flow through natural caves, offering few visitors a chance to explore unusual geological formations. These hidden water systems form a complex network beneath the surface, attracting cave explorers and geology enthusiasts.
