Najiehe Railway Bridge, Railway bridge in Liuchangxiang, China
The Najiehe Railway Bridge is a steel arch structure spanning about 810 meters across the Sancha River, a section of the Wujiang River. The main arch opening measures about 352 meters, and the bridge sits about 285 meters above the water level.
The bridge was completed in 2016 as part of a major railway project in Guizhou Province. It connected previously isolated regions along the Wujiang River and opened new transportation routes for people and goods in the area.
The bridge links isolated communities along the Wujiang River, giving residents access to jobs and schools in distant cities that were previously hard to reach. It has transformed daily life for people living on opposite sides of the river by shortening travel times significantly.
The bridge is best accessed from the railway stations on either side of the Wujiang River, which are clearly marked. Keep in mind this is an active railway line, so it is important to follow all posted safety guidelines when visiting the area.
The construction used two 120-meter towers to create a highline system stretching about 458 meters for moving massive arch pieces. This temporary system allowed engineers to position each segment of the arch with great precision high above the river.
