Wenchang Pavilion, Historical pavilion in Yunyan District, China.

Wenchang Pavilion is a three-story structure with nine angled roofs rising in the eastern section of Guiyang, showcasing traditional Chinese architectural design. The elaborate roofline with its distinctive peaks is visible from the street and forms the building's most striking feature.

The building was constructed in 1609 during the Ming Dynasty and later underwent reconstruction and expansions during the Qing Dynasty. It passed through several periods of change as the city grew around it.

The pavilion served as a worship site dedicated to the God of Literature and Scholarship, drawing students and scholars seeking blessings for their studies. Today it remains a visible expression of how this community valued education and intellectual pursuits.

The pavilion sits on Wenchang Street in the city center and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should prepare for steep stairs inside, as the traditional structure has no modern elevators.

The architecture of this building uniquely combines three stories with three roof levels and nine angled roof peaks. This specific arrangement is found nowhere else in China in this exact form.
