Guiyang Olympic Sports Center

Guiyang Olympic Sports Center is a sports complex featuring a dual-layer metal roof with aluminum panels that accommodates around 52,000 spectators in the main stadium. The site includes an indoor arena with 8,000 seats, an aquatics center, multiple tennis courts, and various training facilities spread across the grounds.

Construction began in 2006 and finished in 2010, marking the completion of a major sports venue for the city. The complex was developed to host regional and larger sporting events and serve the local community's athletic needs.

The design draws from traditions of local ethnic groups, incorporating symbols and patterns that reflect the region's cultural identity. These elements are woven throughout the complex's architecture in ways that visitors notice as they move through the space.

The complex is well organized with distinct zones for different sports, making it easy to navigate between venues. Visitors should plan adequate time if they want to explore multiple facilities or walk across the entire grounds.

The canopy over the playing field uses polycarbonate panels with infrared coating to prevent shadows during competitions. This technical feature demonstrates how the design solves practical challenges while maintaining the overall aesthetic of the facility.
