Tongling

Tongling is an administrative division in southern Anhui province, located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River. The area stretches across terrain with mountains to the south and plains to the north.

The region became a copper mining center during the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century and developed into China's primary copper production base. This activity shaped the local economy for generations.

The city has long been connected to copper work, with craftspeople producing traditional bronze vessels that reflect centuries of metalworking knowledge.

The region is easily reached through several transport connections, including an expressway and a railway station with regular services to other major cities. Its location on the river also makes it accessible by water transport.

A nature reserve in the area houses several endangered species, including the Chinese alligator and Chinese sturgeon in specialized aquatic habitats. These sites play an important role in protecting these rare animals.
