Anqing Yangtze River Bridge, Cable-stayed road bridge in Anqing, China.
The Anqing Yangtze River Bridge is a cable-stayed structure crossing the river with a main span of 510 meters and extends almost 6 kilometers in total length. The structure rises 185 meters high and is supported by distinctive pylons with angled cables.
Built between 2001 and 2004, this bridge was an important transport link representing the 35th crossing of the Yangtze in the region between Yibin and Shanghai. Its completion enabled a direct connection between Anqing city and districts east of the river.
The bridge's nameplate features an inscription in traditional Chinese calligraphy created by a prominent political figure. This calligraphic artwork blends modern engineering with classical artistic traditions.
The bridge carries the G50 Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway with four lanes, connecting Anqing to Dongzhi County in Chizhou district across the river. When visiting the structure or viewing it, expect regular traffic and use designated access areas.
This crossing sits roughly 164 kilometers downstream from another well-known river crossing and about 96 kilometers upstream from a third, making the structure an important link in a system of multiple river passages. The bridge is one of many similar structures that intersect the Yangtze across the region.
