Shrine of Living Buddha, Buddhist temple at Divine Light Summit of Mount Jiuhua, China

The Shrine of Living Buddha stands at Divine Light Summit on Mount Jiuhua and features stone pillars, red walls, and white marble flooring in its main hall. The structure combines traditional Buddhist architectural elements with carefully selected materials.

A Silla prince died in a cave on Mount Jiuhua in 794, and his preserved body led to the construction of this shrine. The site later became recognized as a major Buddhist temple center in the region.

The main hall contains a wooden pagoda with more than one hundred small statues representing figures from Buddhist tradition. Visitors can observe these sacred artworks as they move through the shrine.

Visitors should wear appropriate clothing and behave respectfully since the site remains an active place of worship. Access requires attention to temple rules and consideration for those engaged in prayer.

The shrine houses the naturally preserved body of a Silla prince, discovered three years after his death with life-like features still visible. This unusual mummification gave the place its special religious significance.
