Ganden Monastery, Buddhist monastery on Wangbur Mountain, Lhasa, China.
The monastery complex contains more than fifty structures spread across the mountain slope at an elevation of 3,800 meters above sea level.
Founded in 1409 by Tsongkhapa, Ganden Monastery established the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism and served as its primary spiritual center.
The main assembly hall, Tsochin Hall, accommodates 3,300 monks and features extensive collections of Buddhist scriptures, statues, and ceremonial objects.
Visitors can reach the monastery by taking shuttle buses from Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, with services running throughout the day.
The monastery houses a silver pagoda containing Tsongkhapa's mummified remains, constructed using more than 900 taels of precious metal.
