Trode Khangsar, Buddhist monastery near Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, China

Trode Khangsar is a three-story Buddhist monastery located near the central Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. The main hall is supported by eight pillars decorated with paintings depicting various deities and religious symbols.

The monastery was established in the late 17th century under the orders of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama. It developed as an important center for religious study and practice within Lhasa's sacred landscape.

The monastery is dedicated to Dorje Shugden, a protector figure revered in certain schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Visitors can observe the devotion of resident monks through their daily rituals and the careful maintenance of the sacred spaces.

The monastery welcomes visitors during daily prayer times when resident monks conduct their ceremonies. The best time to visit is early morning when religious activities are most active.

The monastery preserves rare wooden printing blocks used to produce ritual texts dedicated to Dorje Shugden, reflecting learned religious traditions. These blocks demonstrate the continuity of both craftsmanship and scriptural knowledge passed down through generations.
