Liuwu Bridge, Steel arch bridge in Lhasa, China
The Liuwu Bridge extends 1,600 meters across the Lhasa River with three lanes in each direction and a duplex basket-handle arch design.
China Communications Construction completed the Liuwu Bridge in 2007 as part of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway development, with an investment of 388.51 million RMB.
The development surrounding the bridge includes residential buildings constructed in traditional Tibetan architectural style to maintain local building heritage.
The bridge connects downtown Lhasa on the north bank to the Lhasa railway station and the 42-square-kilometer Liuwu New District on the south bank.
The structure features a 120-meter main span with a heeling angle of 28.4 degrees and incorporates piled underground diaphragm walls for pier support.
