Dagu Glacier Gondola, Gondola lift in Sichuan, China
The Dagu Glacier Gondola is a cable car system in Sichuan with 36 cabins that carry passengers between stations at 3617 and 4843 meters elevation. Each cabin holds eight people and covers the 2399-meter route in roughly nine minutes.
The cable car started construction in October 2006 and faced weather delays before resuming in July 2007. It opened to the public on May 1, 2008.
The gondola system operates within the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, where local communities maintain their mountain traditions and customs.
The thin mountain air can be physically demanding, so plan time to acclimatize before riding. Oxygen equipment is available at stations and inside cabins if you need assistance at high elevation.
Oxygen tanks and masks are available in stations and cabins to assist passengers dealing with high altitude conditions during their journey.
