Five Flowers Lake, Natural lake in Jiuzhaigou Valley, China.
Five Flowers Lake is a natural water body in Jiuzhaigou Valley that displays different shades of blue, green, and yellow depending on the season. Ancient fallen tree trunks remain visible through the clear water, creating a distinctive visual element.
The area became a national park in 1982, ending logging operations in the region and beginning systematic protection efforts. This conservation shift allowed the lake to develop into one of the valley's most visited destinations.
The lake holds meaning for local Tibetan and Qiang communities who view such waters as expressions of natural forces shaping their surroundings. Their presence in the valley reflects a long relationship with this environment.
Visitors can reach the lake using shuttle buses from the park entrance, with multiple viewing platforms positioned along the water for different perspectives. Walking comfortable shoes and carrying water is advisable, as the pathways wind through the valley terrain.
The lake's water is enriched with minerals that create its bright colors, shifting throughout the day and seasons based on sunlight and water chemistry. This natural coloring results from mineral-rich underground water seeping into the lake.
