Dabuzi

Dabuzi is an archaeological site with burial grounds and structural remains located at the foothills of Dabaozishan Mountain in Gansu Province. Multiple excavation areas contain artifacts and human remains that researchers have studied to learn about the lives of ancient residents in the region.

Archaeological excavations began in 2001 and revealed artifacts from the Spring and Autumn period of ancient Chinese civilization. The findings show how people during that era buried their dead and what objects they considered important for the afterlife.

Musical instruments found in the burial chambers show that ancient communities valued music in their ceremonies and daily rituals. These discoveries help us understand how important sound and performance were to people living in this region thousands of years ago.

Among the burial goods was a gold foil horse head armor ornament that shows the remarkable metalworking skill of ancient artisans. This find reveals that such detailed work was produced and highly valued for placement with the dead.
