Danba County

Danba County extends across 4,506 square kilometers of mountainous terrain at an elevation of 1,893 meters in western Sichuan Province.

The territory underwent several administrative changes during the 20th century, transitioning from Chuanbian through Xikang before becoming part of Sichuan Province.

The population of 55,519 residents maintains Jiarong Tibetan traditions, speaks local Tibetan dialects, and practices Tibetan Buddhism throughout numerous monasteries.

Visitors can reach Danba by taking a daily bus from Chadianzi Station in Chengdu, departing at 6:30 AM for a fare of 71 RMB.

The county contains ancient stone watchtowers rising up to 60 meters, constructed from mud and stone, with some structures dating back over 1,000 years.
