Mount Nyenchen Tanglha, Sacred mountain in Damxung County, Tibet, China
Mount Nyenchen Tanglha rises to 7,162 meters with three summits exceeding 7,000 meters along a northwest-southeast ridge in central Tibet.
The first mountaineering expedition successfully reached the summit on May 8, 1986, when a Japanese team completed the challenging ascent.
The mountain represents a significant deity in northern Tibet, depicted as a figure riding a white horse with a Buddhist rosary and horse whip.
Climbers need advanced glacier and ice climbing equipment to attempt the ascent, with optimal climbing conditions occurring between May and September.
The mountain forms a natural watershed between the Yarlung Tsangpo River to the south and the endorheic basins of the Changtang to the north.
