AsiaWorld-Arena, Indoor arena in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong
AsiaWorld-Arena is Hall 1 of the AsiaWorld-Expo complex beside Hong Kong International Airport, the city's largest indoor seated performance venue. Its floor covers 10,880 square metres under a 19-metre ceiling, with tiered seating rising on all sides and a maximum of 12,500 seats, or 14,000 with standing room.
The venue was built in the early 2000s as part of the development near the airport and opened in 2005. It emerged during a period when Hong Kong was expanding its role as an international events hub.
The arena's name appears on the black panel above the seating as "WORLD GP", recalling the K-1 World Grand Prix 2007 held here. Regional acts such as Aaron Kwok, Andy Lau, Faye Wong and Mirror have shared the stage with K-pop groups like BTS and Blackpink. On 18 March 2015 One Direction played here; it was Zayn Malik's last show before leaving the group six days later.
The location sits right next to the international airport, making it easy to reach, especially for travelers arriving or departing. Being close to the airport means it works well for those with limited time to spend in the city.
