Wofo Temple

Wofo Temple is a Buddhist temple in Haidian organized along a north-south axis with multiple buildings serving different functions. The Hall of Four Heavenly Kings, the Hall of Three Buddhas, and the Reclining Buddha Hall form the core of the complex.

The temple was originally founded in the 7th century as Doulu Temple, reflecting a long Buddhist tradition. The current structure was rebuilt in 1734 and blends architectural elements from multiple periods.

The temple serves as an active place of worship where visitors can observe Buddhist practices and devotion in the halls. The reverent setting reflects how this location has functioned as a spiritual center for many generations.

The temple is located near Beijing Botanical Garden, roughly 20 kilometers from central Beijing, making it accessible for day visits. Visitors should allow time to walk through the different halls and appreciate the layout of the grounds.

The temple houses an impressive bronze reclining Buddha statue that serves as the centerpiece of the location. This sculpture has become the primary representation of this sacred figure at this sanctuary over time.
