Hebe Haven, Natural harbour in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong
Hebe Haven is a natural harbor in Sai Kung District that opens toward Port Shelter and is bordered by the Pak Sha Wan Peninsula. Waters from the Ho Chung and Tai Chung rivers flow into this protected anchorage, creating a sheltered basin for mooring vessels.
This harbor grew from a traditional fishing area into a modern maritime center when the Hebe Haven Yacht Club was established in 1963. That transition marked the shift toward organized sailing activities and recreational boating.
The place is known locally as Pak Sha Wan, meaning White Sand Bay, a name that refers to the northwestern beach that defines the character of this part of the harbor. Sailors and residents alike use this traditional name in everyday conversation.
The harbor has about 240 swing moorings, maintenance facilities, and a marked navigation channel for boats of various sizes. Several yacht clubs on site provide berthing and service support for vessels.
Mangrove areas around the harbor are home to black-capped kingfishers, birds with bright blue plumage that hunt regularly over the water. These birds are a distinctive part of the local wildlife and a sight many visitors overlook.
