Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course, Public golf course in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong.
The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course is a golfing facility located on an island in Hong Kong's waters with three 18-hole courses spread across the landscape. The playing areas sit on green fields with views of the sea and surrounding mountains.
The facility was founded in 1995 by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and was Hong Kong's first publicly accessible golf facility. This opening allowed more people to play the sport rather than reserving it for members of private clubs.
The course attracts golfers from Hong Kong and the surrounding region who come to participate in local competitions and training programs. It has become a gathering place where the golfing community meets regularly to play and improve their skills.
Access is by ferry from Sai Kung Pier, which regularly connects the mainland to the island. Visitors should check departure times in advance and allow enough time to complete the crossing and travel to the courses.
The facility became China's first certified environmental golf course in 2005 and used solar power to run the golf carts. Rainwater is collected and used on the grounds to reduce overall water consumption.
