Sheung Yiu Folk Museum, Hakka heritage museum in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong.

Sheung Yiu Folk Museum is a restored village complex with eight traditional houses built on raised platforms, occupying roughly 500 square meters. The site shows how people lived and worked in a rural Hakka settlement, with rooms that still hold their original furnishings.

The Wong family established this Hakka settlement in the late 19th century and operated a lime kiln that generated significant income through selling construction materials. The complex reflects how rural communities developed in this region during that era.

The name reflects the Wong family heritage, the Hakka group who settled and lived here for generations. Visitors can see how rooms were arranged to show the everyday patterns of traditional Hakka village life.

The best way to reach the site is by taking bus routes 94 or 96R to Sheung Yiu station, then walking about 15 minutes along the Pak Tam Chung Nature Trail. The grounds are relatively flat and easy to navigate, making it accessible for most visitors.

A six-meter-high watchtower at the entrance once served as a defensive structure and observation point for former village residents. This tower remains one of the most striking preserved features of the original settlement.
