Yesanpo National Park, National park and geological formation in Laishui County, Hebei Province, China.
Yesanpo National Park is a protected area in Hebei Province made up of several sections organized around deep gorges and river valleys. The most visited section is Bailixia Gorge, where steep rock walls rise on both sides of a river that cuts through layered stone.
The park sits at the meeting point of the Taihang and Yan mountain ranges, a collision that shaped the gorges and rock formations seen today. The area received its official protected status and was developed for visitors during the 1990s.
Local communities near the park maintain traditional practices and share regional customs with visitors through guided experiences and demonstrations.
The park is west of Beijing and can be reached by train without needing a car, which makes it one of the more accessible parks in the region. Footwear with grip is worth bringing, as paths through the gorge sections run over uneven and sometimes wet ground.
At certain points inside Bailixia Gorge, the walls narrow so much that a person can touch both sides at once. This makes the walk through the gorge feel very physical, almost like moving through a crack in the earth rather than a trail.
