Clear Water Bay Country Park, Urban park in New Territories, Hong Kong.
Clear Water Bay Country Park is a natural area in the southeastern part of the New Territories in Hong Kong, covering forested hills, open grasslands, and a coastline along the bay. The terrain shifts between hilly ridges and flat shores, with several entry points spread along Clear Water Bay Road.
The area has been home to people for thousands of years, as shown by ancient rock carvings found at Lung Ha Wan. The Tin Hau Temple was built in the 13th century, reflecting how this coastal stretch mattered to seafaring communities over many generations.
The Tin Hau Temple at Fat Tong Mun is still an active place of worship for fishing communities who honor the sea goddess. Incense, offerings, and regular visits from locals show that this maritime devotion remains part of everyday life here.
The park can be reached from several access points along Clear Water Bay Road, most of which have parking areas and good bus connections. Wear sturdy shoes and carry water, since coastal and hillside trails can get steep and exposed to sun or wind.
The rock beneath Tin Ha Shan comes from an ancient supervolcano that erupted millions of years ago, leaving layers of volcanic stone now visible along the trails. This geology is recognized as part of a broader geopark that covers much of the eastern Hong Kong coastline.
