Former Residence of the Weng Clan, Historical residence in Changshu, China.

The Former Residence of the Weng Clan is a large property built in traditional Chinese style, adorned with detailed wood carvings and stone ornaments on its exterior and interior surfaces. The spatial arrangement and craftsmanship reflect the regional building conventions of its era.

The property was built during the Ming Dynasty and came under the care of Weng Xincun in 1833, making it a family seat of influence. Its main hall gained official protected status as a cultural relic in 2001.

The Weng family left traces in literature and education visible today through displayed writings and personal objects throughout the residence. Visitors can see how this prominent family shaped local life during the Qing period.

The main hall contains historical displays and allows visitors to learn about the architectural features and family background in detail. Take time to observe the fine decorative details on walls and structural elements throughout the space.

The Caiyi Hall, a core area of the property, features painted wooden pillars in classic Suzhou style with distinctive color choices. These decorations reveal the artistic preferences that craftspeople valued during that period.
