Kaishan Temple

Kaishan Temple is a Buddhist temple in Xincheng Town with a main hall that stands on a raised stone platform and features large overhanging eaves. The supporting columns rest on square bases and reflect the structure's traditional architectural design.

The temple was founded during the Tang dynasty, with the current main hall dating to 1033 from the Liao period. The building served as a school and granary in the 1900s before returning to its original religious purpose.

Statues of Guanyin and other Buddhist figures fill the main hall, showing how worshippers have come here to pray and find peace. Their placement along the walls reflects how the space has guided spiritual practice for centuries.

The temple has been fully restored to its original state following extensive renovation work completed between 2002 and 2007. Plan to spend time examining the architectural details and enjoying the peaceful setting of this well-maintained site.

The back and side pillars of the main hall tilt inward, a building technique used before the Yuan dynasty. This subtle angle shows how ancient builders gave structures both stability and visual refinement.
