Pudong Library

Pudong Library is an eight-story hexagonal structure with six levels above ground and two underground floors, featuring a central atrium that extends through the entire height of the building. The distinctive shape and vertical design create multiple sections within the library for different collections and reading areas.

The library opened in 2010 as part of Shanghai's expansion of its public library system. A major renovation was completed in 2019, updating the facility with contemporary improvements.

The library serves as a community gathering place where residents come to engage with knowledge and connect with others across ages and backgrounds. Its welcoming architecture and open design make the space feel inclusive and accessible to everyone.

The building's exterior is patterned in a way that resembles a barcode, giving it a distinctive visual identity. From certain angles, the structure appears to float above the ground due to its unique architectural engineering.
