Minpu No. 2 Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Minhang District, Shanghai, China
Minpu No. 2 Bridge is a cable-stayed structure spanning the Huangpu River with two separate levels, one for vehicle traffic above and one for metro trains below. Both decks work together to handle the flow of people and vehicles crossing this major route.
The bridge opened in 2010 as the ninth crossing over the Huangpu River in Shanghai. It strengthened connections to neighboring regions through a major expressway route.
Engineers from multiple Shanghai institutions collaborated on this infrastructure project, demonstrating Chinese engineering capabilities in modern bridge construction.
Visitors can walk across the bridge or use public transportation to cross. Daytime offers the clearest views of the river and surroundings.
The structure rises roughly 214 meters above the water and includes a stiffening truss system designed to resist the strong winds common in the area. This engineering approach makes it notable among river crossings in the region.
