TODTOWN, Mixed-use development in Xinzhuang Town, China
TODTOWN is a large mixed-use development in Xinzhuang Town that brings together residential buildings, shops, hotels, and community facilities in one location. The complex features an integrated subway station and connects multiple transportation systems.
This was developed as the first transit-oriented project of its kind on mainland China and fundamentally changed how cities approached urban planning in the region. It took more than a decade to complete and demonstrates how transportation hubs and residential areas work together.
The place mixes modern architecture with design elements typical of Shanghai, creating spaces where people naturally gather and spend time together. You notice how different areas flow into each other to form a connected social hub.
The place is easy to reach by public transportation and features clear signage to help you navigate through different areas. You can easily move between residential, shopping, and transportation zones.
The project follows a specific model for connecting high-density buildings with transportation hubs to create urban efficiency. This combination allows many people to live, work, and travel here daily.
