Zhoukoudian, Archaeological site in Fangshan District, Beijing, China.
The Zhoukoudian area extends across 121 square kilometers of terrain containing limestone cliffs, valleys, and streams in southwestern Beijing.
Archaeological excavations that began in 1921 revealed fossils of Homo erectus, later named Peking Man, dating back approximately 770,000 years.
The site features exhibits displaying stone tools, fossilized remains, and detailed information about early human settlements in prehistoric China.
Visitors can reach the location by taking bus route 917 from central Beijing to Zhoukoudian station, with the journey taking approximately 90 minutes.
The excavation site contains the remains of more than 40 individual Homo erectus specimens, representing the largest collection of such fossils worldwide.
