Rikaze Diqu, Administrative region in Tibet, China
The Rikaze region extends across mountainous landscapes at high altitudes, with numerous valleys and peaks near Mount Everest in western Tibet.
The area underwent administrative reorganization in 1970, establishing Rikaze Diqu as an official district within the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
The region contains multiple Buddhist monasteries, including Tashi Lhunpo Monastery from 1447, which functions as the primary residence of Panchen Lama.
Travelers reach Rikaze through connected transportation networks from Lhasa, with trains reducing the journey time to approximately three hours.
The population statistics from 2020 indicate 798,153 residents, with Tibetan ethnicity representing 93.77 percent of the total inhabitants.
