The Swabian territory encompasses extensive regions of Baden-Württemberg and western Bavaria, spanning an area of 9,994 square kilometers with 1.7 million inhabitants.

The region emerged from the medieval Duchy of Swabia, where Germanic tribes called Alemanni and Suebi settled during the third century, establishing their presence.

The Swabian German dialect maintains its presence across the upper Neckar basin and along the upper Danube, with 819,000 speakers recorded in 2006.

The administrative district contains major urban centers including Augsburg, Freiburg, Konstanz, and Ulm, connected through an extensive transportation network.

The territory houses the remnants of multiple Swabian Leagues, historical alliances formed among cities and knights to protect their commercial interests against external powers.
