Kitzburg, Water castle in Walberberg, Germany.
The rectangular two-story Kitzburg manor stands on a square island with four corner pavilions, surrounded by protective water channels and stone walls.
The castle foundations date back to the 13th century, while the current structure underwent major transformations between 1671 and 1682 under Count Franz Egon von Fürstenberg.
From 1924 to 2007, Kitzburg served as a Dominican monastery and became an important center for Christian social education after World War II.
The castle remains in private ownership and requires prior authorization for visits, with three bridges providing access across the water-filled moat.
Archaeological excavations near Kitzburg revealed remains of a Roman villa rustica, indicating agricultural activities from the 2nd to 5th centuries.
