Silbermine, Dark ride in Phantasialand, Brühl, Germany.
Silbermine was a dark ride in Phantasialand that transported visitors through elaborate mining scenes with over 120 moving figures along a 307-meter track system. The endless chain conveyor carried guests for around 10 minutes through multiple themed sections.
The attraction opened in 1984 as part of the Silver City area and was designed by Schwarzkopf. It served visitors until 2013, when it was dismantled to make room for new rides.
The ride told the story of Mexican miners discovering silver, followed by village celebrations and scenes of Mexican independence. This narrative drew visitors into a different culture and time.
The ride was easy to access since a slow chain system carried visitors through the scenes without much effort. The route worked for different age groups, though some darker sections may have been unsettling for very young children.
Ennio Morricone composed music specifically for the ride that accompanied visitors through the underground passages and Mexican village scenes. This cinematic connection gave the experience a film-like quality that set it apart from other attractions.
