Hollywood Tour, Dark boat ride at Phantasialand, Brühl, Germany
Hollywood Tour is a dark boat ride at Phantasialand featuring multiple film scenes along a 340-meter track in an underground setting. The ride operates with 15 boats, each carrying 20 passengers and traveling at 2 kilometers per hour.
The ride opened in 1990 after two years of construction, designed by Phantasialand founder Richard Schmit with manufacturing by Swiss company Intamin. The design was specially adapted for the confined underground space.
Visitors travel through recreated scenes from well-known films such as Jaws, Frankenstein, and The Wizard of Oz with a dedicated musical score. These movie scenes create a playful connection between cinema and theme park, allowing guests to experience different Hollywood worlds during their journey.
The ride is installed partly beneath an existing roller coaster, so you may see structures overhead at certain moments. Wear comfortable clothes as the ride can get wet, particularly in the waterfall sections.
The system uses a specially curved spillway design that Intamin developed specifically for this attraction to handle space constraints. This technical solution was innovative for water rides in underground settings.
