Geister Rikscha, Dark ride in Phantasialand, Brühl, Germany
Geister Rikscha is a dark ride in Phantasialand that transports visitors in 100 rotating gondolas through underground passages. The journey covers around 250 meters of themed corridors filled with mechanical figures and visual effects.
The ride opened in 1981 as Europe's longest underground themed attraction at that time. It remains one of the park's oldest operating rides after more than four decades of continuous service.
The ride draws on Chinese mythology, particularly featuring the death god Yama who guides visitors through different scenes along the journey.
The ride lasts about eight minutes with three-person gondolas carrying passengers through the route. The high capacity of this attraction means waiting times are typically shorter compared to other popular rides in the park.
Semi-transparent mirrors create illusions of monsters traveling alongside passengers, while automated figures emerge from walls throughout the temple setting. This combination of mirror tricks and mechanical surprises keeps riders engaged throughout the journey.
