Phantasialand, Entertainment park in Brühl, Germany.
Phantasialand is a theme park in Brühl, North Rhine-Westphalia, that spreads across a large site with several differently designed areas. The facility includes roller coasters, water rides, shows and dining establishments, connected by paths and plazas.
Two businessmen founded the park in 1967 as a small family enterprise with a few rides and simple attractions. Over the following decades, the facility was expanded and redesigned several times, until it became one of the best-known theme parks in Europe.
The name comes from Greek and means imagination, which shows in the detailed themed areas that transport visitors to other worlds. Each area displays its own architectural details, from Asian temples to fairy-tale buildings, explored daily by families and groups.
The facility usually opens in the morning and closes in the evening, with exact times varying by season. Two hotels on the grounds allow guests to spend several days on-site without traveling back and forth daily.
One of the main attractions accelerates riders multiple times during the ride and reaches high speeds through a rocky landscape. This technology creates a different riding experience compared to conventional roller coasters, which accelerate only once at the start.
