Arrephorion, Ancient sanctuary in Greece
The Arrephorion was an ancient Greek sanctuary dedicated to Athena Polias.
Located on the north side of the Acropolis of Athens, it dates back to the 5th century BC.
It was closely associated with the Arrephoroi, young girls chosen to serve Athena.
The remains can be seen when visiting the Acropolis, which opens daily to visitors.
It is famed for housing the mysterious sacred olive wood statue of Athena.
