Tête d'Enclave, Mountain summit in Les Contamines-Montjoie, France
Tête d'Enclave is a mountain summit in the French Alps situated between Les Contamines-Montjoie and Bourg Saint Maurice. The peak serves as a waypoint on several hiking routes that connect these two valleys in the region.
The summit became a destination for climbers during the 19th century as guided mountaineering expeditions grew in the Alps. Early mountain guides gradually opened access to this and neighboring peaks in the region.
The summit forms part of a network of high-altitude hiking paths that connect multiple villages, enabling visitors to discover regional Alpine traditions.
Hikers will find marked trails from Les Contamines-Montjoie leading toward this summit. The best conditions for a visit occur from June to September when the routes are snow-free and clearly passable.
From the summit you can see unobstructed views toward Mont Blanc massif and the Beaufortain mountain ranges. This vantage point makes it a popular spot for photography and observing these two major mountain systems.
