Pointe du Grand Pré

Pointe du Grand Pré stands at 2,715 meters and overlooks the Vanoise region with glaciated areas visible below. The summit area is accessible via chairlifts connected from multiple starting points across the ski zone.

Herders used this location for centuries as a reference point when moving flocks through the Tarentaise Valley's Alpine pastures. Chairlift development beginning in the 1960s transformed how people accessed and used these mountain slopes.

The Grand Pré area shows how traditional sheep herding and modern skiing coexist on the same slopes. Visitors notice this mix in the old grazing trails and contemporary lift infrastructure side by side.

The easiest way to reach the top is via chairlift or cable car during ski season operations. Allow extra time to acclimatize to the altitude, as the height can cause fatigue even during a short visit.

Giant colorful letters spelling the valley name sit at the summit and serve as a popular photo spot for visitors. Oversized deck chairs placed nearby offer a quirky spot to rest while taking in the mountain views.
